Derbyshire Hockey Association will again be offering Development coaching during the summer of 2025

The sessions will be led by experienced coaches who will coach in accordance with the England Hockey coaching philosophy and deliver their ‘National Development Themes’ for players.

We hope also to be able to provide specialist goalkeeper coaching during the summer but this has not yet been finalised.

New players: In order to take part in any Junior County Hockey activity, all players must be registered on the Derbyshire Talent Platform website: www.derbyshirecountyhockey.talentplatform.hockeyYou only need to register once. 

When your application has been accepted, please ensure that you log in to your account and complete the required Profile information (eg Medical, Emergency Contact,  Photography etc).

Players already registered on the EH Talent Platform website don’t need to re-register, but must log in to your account before attending your first session to check and update your profile, ensuring that the mandatory fields have been completed (eg Medical, Emergency Contact, Photography etc). Players will not be allowed to train or play matches if this information is not available.

This year, Development Centre coaching will again be open to all age groups: 

U13 – U17s (in Sept 2025, i.e. born 01 Sep 2008 – 31 Aug 2015)

We are offering 12 hours of DC coaching during the summer, all at The Ellis Astro, Shobnall Leisure Complex. You can attend as many or as few as you wish but full payment is required before the first session.  You will receive feedback from the coaches during the training sessions, both individually to players, as well as to groups. Although there will be no formal assessments for DC activity, players attending these training sessions will be assessed for invitation to the ACADEMY in September.

There is no ‘selection’ or nomination required to attend the summer DC, so please tell your friends to just register and come along and have a go.

DATES:

U13 BOYS and GIRLS will be on TUESDAYS, 6.30-8.30pm.

Dates: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th June, 1st, 8th July 2025

U14 – U17 BOYS and GIRLS will be on THURSDAYS, 6.30-8.30pm. 

Dates: 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th June, 3rd, 10th July 2025

The cost will be £72 to cover all Development Centre training sessions, regardless of how many you elect to attend. Please pay via BACS to:

Session Register:

Please arrive 10 mins before your session start time and wait in the designated area. On arrival you must sign in with the Coach or Centre Administrator.

Kit:

No special kit is required for training, however, Derbyshire Hockey hoodies and shower jackets can be ordered here:  https://pennline.co.uk/teamwear/hockey-uniforms/derbyshire-hockey-club/if you wish.

We will again be offering the opportunity for players to purchase a Derbyshire Hockey t-shirt. A simple purple cotton T, with Derbyshire Hockey branding, suitable for wearing for training or just as a casual top. These are available to anyone taking part in Derbyshire Hockey activities but are by no means compulsory – they are not required kit. 

Derbyshire Hockey socks and T-shirts can be purchased at Academy training sessions.

Players should bring the following, but please keep bags to a minimum:

  • Stick
  • Shin pads
  • Gum shield
  • Water bottle
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Medication (inhalers, etc)

and are advised to bring their own personal first aid kit and hand sanitiser where possible.

All personal items should be labelled with the player’s name.

Derbyshire Hockey Association is always looking for extra help and support with coaching, managing squads, umpiring, admin etc. 
We are also happy to support with coaching and umpiring development.
