You are invited to take part in the DERBYSHIRE HOCKEY ACADEMY 2024-25
Academy players have now been assigned to their new age group squads for 2024-25. Players who took part in the Development Centre coaching at Belper earlier in the summer have been invited through and will be reviewed against current squad members during the first few coaching sessions. Please now follow the admin instructions below. The training sessions will be held at The Ellis Astro, Shobnall. |
Each age group will have a 1.5hr session on each date. TRAINING SCHEDULE, also attached above. |
TRAINING TIMES: U13 09:30 – 11:00 U14 11:15 – 12:45 U15 13:00 – 14:30 U16 & U17 14:45 – 16:15 |
As we operate a policy of continual assessment and in order to make the most of the coaching, players should attend as many sessions as possible. |

SIGN UP FOR THE TRAINING SESSIONS – ATTENDANCE: To help our admin, please complete our Google attendance/availability form using the link: https://forms.gle/SK4heNdGQFXFj9R7A to give us an idea of how many players will be attending each training session and enable us to ensure an appropriate level of coaching support. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO TAKE PART THIS SEASON, PLEASE INDICATE THIS ON THE FORM New players will be assessed during the general Academy training sessions in September. Those NOT of a standard to continue will be informed before the end of September and fees for the remaining sessions refunded. U13 squads will also be reviewed again at the end of the first term |
MATCHES: There will be matches on Sunday 17th Nov and Sunday 15th Dec. If numbers allow, we will enter U13, U14, U15 and U16/17 competitions. Match fees will be £6, collected on the day. |
The second term AC dates will be confirmed nearer the time, and will focus on competition |
Once the Academy sessions have started, your first point of contact will be your Academy Manager.
Session Register:
Please arrive 10 mins before your session start time and wait in the designated area. On arrival you must sign in with your Coach or Squad Manger.
Kit:
No special kit is required for training, however players should not wear school or hockey club kit.
Derbyshire Hockey hoodies and shower jackets can be ordered HERE, if you wish.
We will again be offering the opportunity for players to purchase a Derbyshire Hockey t-shirt. A simple purple cotton T, with Derbyshire Hockey branding, suitable for wearing for training or just as a casual top. These are available to anyone taking part in Derbyshire Hockey activities, but are by no means compulsory – they are not required kit. They will be available to purchase at the training sessions.
Socks can be purchased at Academy training sessions in September.
You will need your own navy shorts/skort
Players will should bring the following, but please keep bags to a minimum:
- Stick
- Shin pads
- Gum shield
- Water bottle
- Spare white t shirt
- Waterproof jacket
- Medication (inhalers,etc)
and are advised to bring their own personal first aid kit and hand sanitiser where possible.
All personal items should be labelled with the player’s name.
HELP REQUIRED
We are always looking for extra help coaching, managing teams, umpiring, helping with admin etc, so if any parents would like to get more involved, in any way, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. In particular, U14 Girls, U16 & U17 Girls squads need Managers. They can’t play in the fixtures without them.
